We look forward to keeping you in the loop with our latest happenings and progress. We feel staying in touch is essential, and we're eager to share these updates with you. ENHANCING SKILLS
The "Farming God's Way" agricultural program is gaining popularity in the KwaZulu-Natal region. Thandi, who conducts agriculture classes at the teaching garden in Waterfall, is committed to skills development and women's empowerment. She recently discovered a practical course nearby and encouraged Thanda, Tembe's daughter, and Amanda, a former agriculture student, to enroll. With transportation provided by Build The Future, all three could join the course and expand their knowledge of sustainable farming.
Amanda is also working towards becoming a facilitator and assessor to assist Thandi with an upcoming mushroom project. Their partnership will be crucial as they undertake this new initiative together.
Seeing our community members proactively participate in learning opportunities that deepen their grasp of sustainable farming is heartening. We can't wait to bring you more news on the mushroom project and the influence of this agricultural program in the future.
YEARBOOK IN THE MAKING!
We're delighted to announce a fun new project led by Baylee for the Kya Sand Preschool – the creation of their inaugural yearbook! Baylee is passionately involved in this endeavor, with plans to design yearbooks for all the preschools under Build The Future. At present, she's busy capturing enchanting moments, taking photographs, and carefully creating the yearbook to ensure it becomes a timeless memento.
Baylee realized Lauren's (a recent guest/volunteer from the U.S.) photography skills and invited her to participate in the project. Lauren enthusiastically utilized her expertise to document memorable moments while in KZN. Sharing the photographs with the children, who take immense joy in seeing themselves and their friends in the photos, has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of this project.
As the first-ever yearbook of the Kya Sand Preschool takes shape, we remember the significance of commemorating achievements, treasuring memories, and fostering a sense of community. We look forward to the completion of the yearbook and can't wait to share it.
CALL FOR EDUCATORS!
As highlighted in our latest newsletter, we initially introduced this program intending to provide English tutoring to our preschool teachers. But as the program planning evolved, we realized that our first tutors needed to be more than just language tutors; they should be educators.
This initiative aims to enhance the English language proficiency of our preschool teachers and equip them with the skills and knowledge to effectively impart this learning to their young students. We are looking for tutors who can guide our Kya Sand teachers, helping them translate their improved language skills into impactful teaching strategies which will have an immeasurable influence on the young learners they teach.
Here is where you come in. We are seeking committed educators who can dedicate one day a week throughout the year (excluding holidays) for early morning tutoring sessions. If you're interested in making a significant impact and are ready to join us in this exciting initiative, we would love to hear from you. Please reply to this email with your contact information. We are ready to start as soon as we find our dedicated volunteers. Together, let's empower the teachers and students of Build The Future to reach their full potential.
KICKING OFF 2023 TRIPS: A JOURNEY OF CONNECTION AND IMPACT
As we move forward into the year, we are delighted with the start of our 2023 trips. Along with Master Provisions, we are very excited to welcome teams from Crossroads and Afrika Adventures. These trips signify more than just visits; they are moments of mutual learning, shared experiences, and collective growth. Each of these journeys represents an opportunity to strengthen our connections, further our mission, and make a tangible impact on the communities we serve.
We are eager to embark on these upcoming adventures and can't wait to share these experiences with you. We remain grateful for your unwavering support as we continue to work together. Here's to a year of impactful journeys and meaningful connections!
