We aim to take as many kids off the street and enroll them in our preschools, so they can be safe, while learning and playing. We are striving to plant preschools in areas that are densely populated with local inhabitants, who are the poorest of the poor, but who’s children deserve an education and nourishment. We go where no-one else will, for the future of South Africa.
All our projects have worked very well over the last 5 years and we believe that with additional financial assistance we can identify and continue to help many more families and children in the grass roots areas where we partner and work with the communities.
Our expansion plans have taken us to a rural area of KwaZulu-Natal called Ndwendwe. There has never been a preschool in this specific area. Previously, kids roamed the streets until they were old enough to be sent to the local primary school. We have made history by setting up a container preschool, to make a huge difference in the lives of the kids in this community, who are now given the preschool education, as well as daily meals needed to equip them for Grade 1.
Having created relationships in this area for over 20 years, we saw a great need to feed kids after school, as well as hungry adults and grannies in the community. To carry on Gogo’s legacy, we have two wonderful ladies that cook for the community every day. Approximately 2, 000 meals are prepared every month.
In 2014 we launched our first classroom container with 7 kids. We now have the capacity to teach 100 kids at our container school. Building the future in these kids’ lives continues to be our mandate.
